On June 18, 2019, our Atkins Garden project in Port Coquitlam, BC, received approval from city council for a development permit. Located in downtown Port Coquitlam, near Gates Park, our building will be six storeys and contain thirty-three units.
Sitting on pre-existing RA2 – Residential Apartment 2 – zoned land, our building complies with Port Coquitlam’s Official Community Plan, regarding the intent to build multi-family housing in the Downtown Port Coquitlam area. Policies regarding affordable and family-friendly housing, as passed by Port Coquitlam city council, requiring 25% of units in multi-family complexes to be defined as “family-friendly” as well as a minimum of 5% of units containing three bedrooms, have also been met. Our building also contains 10 “adaptable” units, which are units designed to be easily converted to accommodate residents with specific needs regarding accessibility within the home.
